Beyond the Diagnosis

Anxiety & Chronic Stress

Anxiety isn’t just excessive worry—it’s often a nervous system that has learned to stay on high alert. You may experience racing thoughts, physical tension, restlessness, difficulty sleeping, or a constant sense of urgency or dread.

In our work together, we may:

  • Use top-down strategies to help you understand anxiety patterns, triggers, and thought loops

  • Build practical coping tools for regulation, grounding, and stress management

  • Incorporate bottom-up approaches to calm the nervous system and resolve stored threat responses in the body

Rather than simply managing anxiety, the goal is to help your system learn that it is safe again.

Depression, Numbness & Emotional Disconnection

Depression doesn’t always look like sadness. For many people, it shows up as emotional numbness, exhaustion, lack of motivation, or a sense of disconnection from oneself or others.

Together, we work to:

  • Explore the meaning of your emotional shutdown or low mood without pathologizing it

  • Identify coping strategies that support energy, self-compassion, and daily functioning

  • Address bottom-up emotional blocks that may be keeping your system in a state of collapse or withdrawal

Healing here often involves gently reconnecting you to your emotional world—at a pace that feels safe and respectful.

Trauma, Relational Wounds & Patterns That Keep Repeating

Many clients come to me saying: “I understand why I feel this way—but I still react the same.”
That’s often a sign that the issue isn’t cognitive—it’s stored in emotional or procedural memory.

I specialize in working with:

  • Developmental trauma and attachment wounds

  • Relationship patterns that repeat despite insight

  • Emotional reactions that feel disproportionate or uncontrollable

Using memory-based and mind-body approaches, we work to resolve experiences that were never fully processed—so your present reactions no longer feel hijacked by the past.
